Aoife Hearne, BSc Human Nutrition and Dietetics, MSc Sports and Exercise Nutrition, CORU Registered

Having trained and worked as a dietitian in the United States for almost 8 years, I returned home to my home city of Waterford in 2005 and set up my private practice.  From my first consultation in a converted room in my parent’s home I could hardly imagine how my career was going to take off!  From those humble beginnings, my private practice has gone from strength to strength and brought me to the national stage.

There is a quote that says ‘Do what you love and you’ll never work a day in your life’.  I truly believe this and I have to say I LOVE what I do. It never feels like a chore when working with people to make changes to their lifestyle be it in a one to one setting, group setting or in the media.

Becoming a mother in 2014 shaped me in a way I could never imagine.  It was about this time I became passionate about supporting pregnant women and how powerful this can be to change the health of our nation for the better.

I learn so much from the clients I work with – be they in my clinic, in the sporting field or in the corporate setting.  The one thing I know for sure is that in each of these settings the key to success is about getting the simple things right and being persistent with it.

My intention when working with different groups is to bring some sense to all the noise about ‘what we should’ eat. My focus always is on wellness.  Life is for living and food is to be enjoyed and I think that is something we shouldn’t forget!
