Aoife Hearne, BSc Human Nutrition and Dietetics, MSc Sports and Exercise Nutrition, MINDI

Aoife Hearne is a registered dietitian and a member of the Irish Nutrition and Dietetic Institute, the professional body for dietitians in Ireland. Aoife went to the United States on an athletic scholarship where she studied nutrition at The University of Tennessee and graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2003. She went on to complete a dietetic internship at the world renowned Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston. After qualifying as a registered dietitian she worked as a clinical dietitian in Savannah, Georgia at Memorial Health University Medical Center. While in Savannah, Aoife gained a wealth of experience as chief clinical dietitian at the Anderson Cancer Institute where she worked with patients undergoing radiation and chemotherapy treatment.  In 2005, Aoife returned home from the United States and established Nutrition Solutions in Waterford City.  Since then, she has made a significant contribution to the South East’s medical infrastructure by providing a professional private nutrition consultancy service. Aoife works closely with local GP’s and also provides nutrition services to schools, industry, sports teams and community groups.

Professional Development

Aoife has extensive experience in counselling patients with diabetes, cardiac disease, increased cholesterol, polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), those with weight control issues and patients undergoing cancer treatment.   In addition to this, Aoife did training on the Low FODMAP diet Kings College London and is has much experience and interest in managing gut problems such as irritable bowel syndrome (FODMAP diet), colitis, Crohn’s disease and Coeliac disease.
